Questions & FAQS

1.What type of photography do you do?

My shoot preference will always be candid. It is important for me to capture spontaneous and authentic moments as they arise. The looks and expressions on the faces of others are always more genuine, pure and real this way. And the photographs will look a lot more relaxed and natural. I prefer to capture moments rather than creating ones that are sometimes forced when someone realizes there is a camera pointed at them.

Aside from my favorite type, I do all kinds of photography from Portrait, Fashion, Still Life, Product, Editorial and more.

2. What should I wear?

Make sure to look your BEST! Get a fresh haircut or a new style. Wear your best blouse, something that compliments your body in all ways. If you need suggestions or help, please feel free to contact me directly. If you’re unsure, feel free to bring several outfits to decide from.

3. I have specific poses in mind

Great! Ideally, every client would model as if they were Rhianna or Beyonce standing in front of a camera. But if you cannot channel your inner Rhi, I will do my best to help you to achieve the best look. I prefer to use candid shots of my clients being their genuine self.

If you have suggestions and want things a certain way, please voice it. This photoshoot is yours to control and direct, I am just the camera person. It is my job to make your vision (if you have one) to life.

4. What’s your travel cost?

I will travel up to 20 miles at no additional cost. All other travel fees will be added to discussed rate and agreed upon.

5. What if it rains?

If it rains, I have equipment that will not affect the photoshoot. 🙂 But if you prefer to be dry, we can reschedule at no additional cost.

6. what type of photography do you shoot?

I shoot everything. I do not have a specialty. I have a particular eye. The clients who choose to work with me do so because they like both myself, and my photography and have seen it for themselves. Choosing a photographer is about choosing a style that works for you.

I tend to shoot fashion photography, modeling, headshots, food, landscape, events, and anything else that I am asked to shoot. I do not place limitations on what I can create.

7. How do I prepare?

It is important that you are prepared for your shoot. Time matters very much and every second count. We schedule your shoot in advance in order for you to best prepare for the time given.

If we are shooting in your home, make sure that our environment is photoshoot friendly. Make sure the space is clear and consider putting away anything that you don’t want in the pictures away.

8. What is your turnaround time?

For photos, depending on the nature of the shoot, the turnaround time is 2-5 weeks. Sometimes I take up to 1000 per session and sift through each photo to grab the best ones for my clients. With backup project, each session is prioritized in order of shoot date. Priority is placed on session that request accelerated delivery and will be pushed to the front of the list upon completion of priority payment.

For videos, depending on the length it can take up to 7 days to sift through the content and piece together your project or story.

If you need it sooner, please let me know.

9. Why is photography so expensive

Unfortunately, people doing photography as a hobby sometimes makes it hard for photographers to be seen as a business. One thing that i’ve noticiced is that photographers get undervalued, while people are willing to pay much more for other services, even though the photographer is the one who captures the moments and products.

The truth of it all is that photography directly impacts your branding, professional images and sales. It requires a lot of time, planning, art direction and professional equipment to get the images that you need. So while you can use a regular iphone to take images by a novice, you get to decide how much you value presenting yourself in a professional way.

For a photographer, the minimum investments to do what we do look something like this:

  • website ($300+/yr. | domain, website hosting, website building, ssl certificates, email addresses, products and plugins for website)
  • Professional Camera & multiple lenses ($2000-$10,000)
  • Lighting setups ($200-1000)
  • Equipment such as stands, backdrops, memory cards, etc) ($500-2000)
  • Workspace (computers, programs such as adobe suite (29.99/month = $359/year), harddrives and cloud storage to house photographs) ($2000+)
  • other needs
This is not only a base pricing, but this comes with yearly costs associated with keeping these things up and the wear and tear of items used along the way. Every product that we use to edit and house your images charges a monthly fee that totals up to thousands a year when combined.
Under US copyright law, photographers own every image that they take and they have the choice to sign over full rights to the client, or to license them for specific uses. The more uses that the images have, and the more eyes that will see them, the higher the cost of licensing because they have more value. Thus why images strictly for instagram may be cheaper than images for your business website.
10. If you only shoot for an hour why is the hourly price so much?

I’ve had clients tell me that I don’t spend that much time and my hourly rate is too expensive. My hourly rate is less than the average photographer and I do that so that my images will reach more people.

Hourly rate: $250 (minumum for a session)

What actually happens for $250:

  • Prior to the shoot, research, brand understanding, art direction, sourcing and planning go into communicating the shoot prior to the event) 1-2 hours minimum
  • Travel to and from location which could be up to 1-2 hours back and forth depending on the distance
  • Equipment set up and moving, setting up, styling, capturing shots, outfit/scene changes (1-2 hours)
  • Post production:
    • going through images (minumum of 200 up to 1000 at times) to pick the best shots
    • editing and retouching (up to 1 hour per image depending on what is needed)
    • uploading images to site for delivery

All of the above is being done by one person without assistance and this will impact how much time is required. Note: Hiring additional hands means higher costs.
